Satish Kumar Yadav is a former Indian Olympic boxer and Indian Army sportsperson who became the first Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympic Games in the Super-Heavyweight category. At Tokyo 2020, he reached the Olympic quarter-finals and finished =5th overall. He also won a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games and a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Satish Kumar Yadav was born on 4 May 1989 in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. He joined the Indian Army in 2008 and later took up boxing after being identified for the sport during an Army boxing camp. His rise in boxing eventually made him India's leading Super-Heavyweight amateur boxer.

Satish achieved a major international breakthrough at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, where he won the bronze medal in the Super-Heavyweight category. This was one of his first major international medals and established him as a leading Indian heavyweight boxer.

He continued to compete successfully at international level and won the silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in the men's +91 kg category, losing the final to England's Frazer Clarke. The Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports also records him as a Commonwealth Games silver medallist. Satish's biggest career milestone came when he qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, becoming the first Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympics in the Super-Heavyweight category. At Tokyo, he defeated Jamaica's Ricardo Brown to reach the quarter-finals before losing to Uzbekistan's Bakhodir Jalolov. He finished =5th overall.

His career achievements were recognised with the Arjuna Award in 2018. He has also represented the Indian Army at major international competitions.

Satish Kumar's Olympic quarter-final appearance and his historic qualification in the Super-Heavyweight division make him an important figure in the history of Indian Olympic boxing.
