Lovlina Borgohain is one of India's leading international boxers and an Olympic bronze medallist. She won the bronze medal in the women's 69 kg welterweight category at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. She later moved to the 75 kg category and won the 2023 World Boxing Championships gold medal. Lovlina has represented India at multiple Olympic Games and remains one of the country's most successful female boxers.
Lovlina Borgohain was born on 2 January 1997 in Assam and went on to become one of India's most successful female boxers.
She made her mark on the international boxing scene with strong performances in the welterweight category. She won bronze medals at the 2018 and 2019 World Boxing Championships and continued to establish herself as one of India's leading international boxers.
Lovlina qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in the 69 kg category. At the Tokyo Olympics, she defeated Nadine Apetz of Germany and Chen Nien-chin of Chinese Taipei to reach the semi-finals and secure an Olympic medal. She ultimately won the bronze medal after losing her semi-final bout to Turkey's Busenaz Sürmeneli.
In 2023, Lovlina moved up to the 75 kg category and achieved one of the biggest victories of her career by winning the gold medal at the Women's World Boxing Championships. She also won silver at the 2023 Asian Games in the 75 kg category and secured qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she competed in the women's 75 kg category. She also continued representing India at the highest international level.
In 2026, Lovlina added another major achievement to her career by winning silver in the women's 75 kg event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Lovlina Borgohain's journey from Assam to the Olympic podium has made her an inspiration for young boxers across India.
